In search of a way to find unused ports. The caveat is that not all devices on turned on 24/7.....so found this command some time ago!
show int | i proto.*notconnect|proto.*administratively down|Last in.* [6-9]w|Last in.*[0-9][0-9]w|[0-9]y|disabled|Last input never, output never, output hang never
I ran the above on a few of our switches and does provide "not connected port information". However can someone please decipher the above so I know what it all means? please and thanks!
Also, how can the syntax be altered for say 6 months? or even a year.
Trying to get our wiring closets under control.
