What do you mean about the default route? Can you show me how to remove it?

Please excute below commands .

R1#no ip-route

R1#ip route

Thank you! I will definitely try this one.. but this is a single interface connection right? I mean trunk to router? My previous configuration was switchport to router interface fa0/0 and fa0/1.. but i guess that wouldn't work..

Yes , Single Interface trunk connection.

I have tried your suggestion but why is it that i get invalid  inout detected when enter

Router <config-subif>encapsulation

It doesnt accept encapsulation

What model switch you have

Un shut the interface and try.  If not you have to look for iOS up gradation

I have a 3550 switch and ios version 12.3<23>..

Sub interface should be created on router , hope you are creating on the router

may be iOS on router is not supported, you may have to go for iOS upgradation

post me rhe router model

I got a 3550 switch and 2600 router with ios version 12.3.. can you help me where to download ios version 12.2<9> because i think the issue is on ios version.. and how to install it?

Go to Cisco.con and downloads you should have a valid cisco id

here you you with the procedure for iOS up gradation

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/routers/3800-series-integrated-services-routers/49044-sw-upgrade-proc-ram.html

The statics were definitely causing an issue and it should work

1- Clear the mac address table in the switch:

 clear mac address-table dynamic

2- Clear the arp cache in the router

     clear arp

3- Remove the mac security from f0/9

4- Reboot your PC

Should i assign ip address to my vlan 10 and 20?

I followed everything here but it seems that it's not working. . This give me a headache. ..
