Dear all,
we are trying to recover the password of the above switch module
by using the AMM 'Restore Factory Defaults' mechanism for it.
The switch came up after a while with the SWICH> prompt. Then we put
in the 'flash_init' command but got this message:
'Translating "load_init" ...domain server (255.255.255.255) unknown command
or unable to know computer address*'
What's wrong with our procedure?
Many thanks in advance for any hint!
Greetings,
Rainer

Rainer,
You can not use the AMM to do password recovery for 3110s. AMM controls the IBM chassis.
You need to console into the 3110 and do the password recovery. The console port is USB.

@Reza:
Many thanks for your prompt reply!
o.k. I have my PC connected via the USB to DB9 adapter to the 3110X console port.
According the manual I should press the MODE button after repowering the switch module.
But the CISCO 3010X has no such button isn't?
What next?

Rainer,
The mode button is right under the USB/consol port
Here is a picture of the 3110x (figure-2)

Reza, thank you for the link.
We followed exactly the procedure described in Chapter 47 and these were the results
after releasing the MODE button:
We see these messages
"Password recovery mechanism is enabled. The system has been interrupted prior to
initializing the flash file system. The following commands will initialize the flash file system, and
finish loading the operating system software:
flash_init
boot
NOTE: In contrast to the manual we do NOT see the "load_helper" command here.
In the next step we initialized the flash filesystem by entering
SWITCH: flash_init
Because we could not load any helper file (load_helper: cmd not found) we displayed the
switch file system
SWITCH: dir flash:
and saw only 1 file called 'multiple-fs' and 1 directory called 'cbs31x0-universal-mz.122-52.SE' with this contents:
- info (file)
-html (directory)
But there is no 'config.txt' file at all!
Therefore we boot up the system and tried to enter the Exec mode:
SWITCH> enable
Password:
What's going on here, we were confused now!

I have the same issue but in a STACKED configuraton - I understand the process, but am I going to take the blade chassis down if I reset the Cisco 3110x modules in the stacked configuration, any help would be great.
