IE4000 w/ PoE issue

I have a IE-4000-4GS8GP4G-E running software version 15.2(7)E2 and I can't get the PoE functionality to work. I plugged in a device that utilizes 10 W at maximum and 5 W typically but the device will not power on. I noticed that the power budget for this switch is 125W so the end device is not consuming too much power.

 

What am I forgetting?  The documentation for the switch mentions that PoE is enabled by default, and yes the device is plugged into a port that is identified as PoE enabled.

check command level show interface (hope the interface not admin down ?)

as per the document downlink ports support PoE +

 

1.IE-4000-8GT8GP4G-E supports up to 240W PoE, consisting of eight ports of PoE+ (30 W per port; IEEE 802.3at) with temperature derating (131°F (55°C) at full 240W PoE power) and depending on the power source used. All other PoE-capable models support up to 120W PoE, either PoE (15.4 W per port; IEEE 802.3af) or PoE+ (30 W per port; IEEE 802.3at) over the full operating temperature range.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Nope, the interface is not admin down, that was the first thing I checked. It's a bit odd, the Cisco documentation claims that PoE is on by default, but doesn't power on the device when plugged into the appropriate port. I am still working though reasons why it doesn't power on. Thanks for the help so far I am reviewing the document you linked.

What is the output to the command "sh power inline"?

IE 2K/3K/4K are modular.  PoE modular ports have different part numbers to non-PoE modular ports.

Post the complete output to the command "sh inventory". 

The output provided shows the PoE module is not attached.

Now that I have some time, I was able to find another switch with two power supplies. Here is the sho power inline command, and sho inventory.

A different Cisco IE4000. The first one only had (1) power supply hooked up and I see why that particular switch doesn't have PoE enabled. So I grabbed the config from a production switch in the field (one that I previously tried PoE on). But the same issue persists, once I plug in the device that needs PoE the device will not power on. The device in question notes... so this should be within the design parameters for the IE4000.

 

"Power Consumption
10 W Maximum, 5 W Typical"

you need power to both A/B inputs.  you can jumper them if you want, but PoE will not work with only one power slot connected.
