Increasing MTU size in a Ethernet Switch

Hello

I have a nexus 2k, which feeds into an ethernet switch. This switch in turn connects to a second ethernet switch, which in turn connects to the customer equipment. The customer equipment can only support a MTU size of 1500. As such the Nexus has been configured to ensure that frames greater than 1500 are never sent. There is a plan to support jumbo frames. Each port of the switches have had their MTU size increased to 2038 from 1538. The customer equipment and N2K are still at 1500. Would this cause a problem?

Hey Chris,

I believe it should not as both source and destination, in this case say Nexus and customer switch are working on 1500 so you should be good.

HTH.

RS.
