Inject default route(s) into EIGRP for Internet access

I have a core 6500 sup II switch that is connected to 2 default gateway paths Metro and MPLS . 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 X.X.X.X is directly connected over Metro Ethernet. When that connection goes down I want the default gateway to adjust to network #2 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 H.H.H.H 10. what is the best practice for this? I put in a weight statement and pulled the default X.X.X.X connection but the H.H.H.H did not pick up.. Any thoughts on this?

Make sure the x.x.x.x is an ip address and not an interface. When you do a show ip route, do you see the floating static default route in your routing table? If you want to send this down stream, you need to redistribute this static route.
