Hello,

what instructions are you following ? Post these instructions. The network as it is right now will not work, you have identical networks at the top and the bottom.

Hello,

since your routers are hosts with ip routing disabled (which I assume is on purpose) you need to remove the duplicate IP addressing on the Vlan interfaces and change the default gateways on the routers (hosts), as in the file attached.

Why would you need to do this when HSRP vip is active which the rtrs originally pointed to in the first place?

@paul driver Not sure where anything HSRP related comes from, there is no HSRP in the original file (at least not the one I am looking at), and OP does not mention HSRP (and I did not see any instructions, that is why I asked what he, or she, wants o accomplish).

The bottom right in the original file had 'ip routing' enabled without any routing (static or dynamic).

Simply changing the IP addresses of the SVIs (since they are duplicate) and making sure the hosts (routers) point their default gateways makes for end to end reachability.

Hello

Understand but In your file you also includes hsrp?, So wouldnt it be easier to NOT to change the hosts D/G's and use the HSRP vip as in theory the hosts could be numorous , Also it adds some resilency if not that much..

@paul driver I guess we'll have to wait for an update from OP on what the actual requirements are...

Honestly I am new at this and dont understand what is hsrp?

Hello,

there are different ways to approach this. It all depends on what you want to accomplish. You could also just make one of the layer 3 switches a routing device (ip routing enabled) and leave the other one as a layer 2 switch, so all routing would be done on just one switch.

Where did you get this topology from ?

I am just beginning to learn VLanning and saw it on a video, my main objective was to complete the task as I saw the instructor do, obviously this is not close to a real life scenario. It just gave me a basic understanding of VLAN's and default gateway etc.

Thank you I will check it out

Thank you for taking the time out to help me, unfortunately the file you sent is not compatible with my version of packet tracer, my version is 8.0.1.0064. what is your version?

Hello,

I am using the latest version (8.1), send me a private message with your email address.

Do you have a link to that video you were watching ?

Hello

You had duplicate L3 vlan addressing. please review the working example.
