ios 15 for WS-C2960S-24PS-L

hello all ,

We are planning to move from IOS 12 to IOS 15 on our CIsco LAN switches WS-C2960S-24PS-L .

But on cisco webiste to downlaod image I am able to find only Universal image no LAN BASE licnse is there for 2960 in IOS 15 .

example c2960s-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE2.bin

Any one can please suggest if we can migrate our 2960 lan switches on ios 15 with lan base licnse .

Yes you can.

Upgrade to 15.0(2)SE4 instead.

Thanks Leo for reply but  15.0(2)SE4 is also universal license not lan base below is the only license there in SE4

Doesn't make any difference.

Check the output to the command "sh license", if it says that your license is "permanent" then you can use the Universal IOS.

I have attached output of Show License .

output gives two index one says feature is  lanlite , second output says Feature: lanbase

Not sure what it means does it means it has lan lite licnse or lan base ?

Look at the two lines under "lanbase".

It says you have "life time" and "permanent".  Your switch is, therefore, running LAN Base feature set.

You can use UNIVERSAL IOS and you'll still retain the "LAN Base" feature set.

So I will be using for 2960 c2960s-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE2.bin . or I should use c2960s-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE4.bin

for 3560 we need to do basic networking only static routes I have used c3560e-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE2.bin  is that ok or some other license is suggested

Use 15.0(2)SE4.  No additional license required.
