Hi, i am looking for a way to do software data compression through cisco IOS. while searching i went through a white paper that discussed different compression techniques like per-interface compression, tcp/ip header comp etc, but i am not able to find any configuration for data compression through software, so is it possible to do so, kindly keep these facts in mind
1) i am not using VoiP i just want to compress my data payload
2) most of the routers are 1841, but we also have 2811, 3845, 3640
So is there any way to do software compression ??
thanks

Take a look at this link - it may be what you're looking for.

Take note without compression hardware, compression can consume a large percentage of CPU.
