Hi everyone
We have 2 Catalyst 2690 Plus (WS-C2690+24LC-S) switches that came with the base version of IOS on them (LAN Lite). We would like them both to be licensed for the next level of IOS – LAN Base License (more here: http://blogs.cisco.com/enterprise/cisco-ios-software-licenses-what%E2%80%99s-what-for-layer-2-and-layer-3-switching-%E2%80%93-part-1).
The reseller we use for most things Cisco tell me this cannot be done - in their words: the feature set is bound to the hardware model. To get for instance the features and capabilities of LAN Base, you must purchase a LAN Base switch.
This is the first time we have tried to do this and I am surprised if this is the case - can anyone confirm please?
Many thanks.

Hi,
Your re-seller is correct. You can't upgrade from LAN Lite to LAN Base.
