Hello,

We have 2 Nexus 9Ks one is primary and the other is failover/Secondary and are not stack. I want to upgrade the ios on both of them so can I upgrade on the secondary switch and then upgrade the primary or vice versa. Do you know if the other switch failover directly or do I need to follow any procedure to make them failover? TIA

I am not expert on the 9Ks but in general my experience has been that it is better to upgrade the secondary, which will not have any impact on the primary. After that upgrade is completed then upgrade the primary. The upgrade process will cause the primary to reboot and that will shift traffic to the backup. Once the primary is back on line you can shift the traffic back to primary.
