IOS UPGRADE VIA USB I/O error (3850 SWITCH)

Anyone willing to assist,

Been trying to upgrade the IOS for a WS-C3850-48T via USB and I'm getting this error "%IOSXE-3-PLATFORM: SWITCH 1 TO R/0 KERNEL: SCSI 1:0:0:0 REJECTING TO OFFLINE/DEAD DEVICE".  After this error message my usb device is then logically ejected from the switch. I've been able to move .txt files over without issue into the flash memory and the attempted configuration file to other same model switches. Since it is an I/O error I'm hesitant to restart the switch, if anyone has encountered this before or has any ideas I'd greatly appreciate the help.

Post the complete output to the command "sh post".

I have got device not found error as Switch did not detect the device. I did a reboot to the switch and performed dir usbflash0: then the usb device was recognized and then I was able to upload the new IOS image to switch 3850 using "copy usbflash0:cat9k_iosxe.16.06.03.SPA.bin flash:"

Note: I was able to successfully upload the ios image from USB to switch, but the upgradation resulted in boot failure.

That is guaranteed to fail.

A 3650/3850 will not boot a firmware designed for a Catalyst 9300/9400/9500/9600 (and vice versa).
