IOS version for upgrade path?

This is probably a basic question for most, but looking at all of the ios releases that are available I am not sure which one I should use. Just to verify, here is what I believe is the correct moves to get my boxes up to a current release-

4510(SupV): 12.2(20)EWA to 12.2.25-EWA7?

3560: 12.2(25)SEB2 to 12.2(35)SE1

2950's: 12.1(22)EA2 to 12.1(22)EA8a

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

I agree with you on this. The IOS that you have mentioned are the latest one in their respective train. Untill and unless you have some new hardware or software feature requirement always be in the same train.

For 4500 12.2.25.EWA7 is the latest in its 12.2.EWA train.

For 3560 the latest is 12.2.35SE1

For 2950 the latest IOS is 12.1.22EA9

HTH,Please rate if it does.

thanks amit.

For the 2950 EA8a release, the file size is 5

MBs including the devman files. My switch only has 1.5 MBs free. I am assuming that I need to remove the existing image to free up enough room, but if something doesn't go well I won't have an image to boot from. Am I missing something here related to the file sizes and space? Here is a look at one of them-

Hi,

As far as I know, you will have to remove existing image.

I have done many, you will have no problem as long as you do not loose power during this process. So make sure no intruption to power.

If you are not using http server for switch management then I suggest you remove html director to free up FLASH.

I upgraded all of the switches last night, now I just have one more question. The ROM rev on my 4510 is 12.1(20r)EW1. According to the release notes for the 12.2(25)EWA7 ios, that is the minimum and is ok but the recommended is the 12.2(31r)SGA release. Should I also upgrade that, or leave it where it is?

thanks again for the information,

dave

Dave,

Please go ahead and upgrade the rommon on the switch to eliminate any future incompatibility.

HTH,
