Hi
We have been moving some devices from one switch to another during a migration onto our new network switches. We have an AP that is dropping pings only on the one IP address. When I assign it another IP address from the same subnet then I do not get any drops.
I have plugged it back into the old switch and now I still get ping drops. Before moving this AP I was logged onto it without issues so issue only started as we moved it. Its uptime was approx 400 days so has been up for some time. I have other APs that we moved across but not getting the same issue on those.
I have checked all the switches to ensure there is no other devices or the original switch still holding its MAC address.
Any Ideas??

You could run an ipscanner across the network to be sure its not statically set somewhere else
what alert are you getting does it show the other mac address if it does have you tried to trace it at layer 2 follow the mac address from where its being sent out ?

Hi
I have shut the AP down and ran an IP scanner and the IP address is not showing up anywhere else.
I cannot ping the old address once I change it to a new one.
I have checked the arp entries and only see the one for this address on the correct port.
The mac is being sent out from the correct port where the AP is.
So I have connected my laptop to a port in the same VLAN and same switch as the AP and I still get drops when pinging it. I then took the AP offline and assigned the IP statically to my laptop but then I do not get any drops when pinging my laptop.
So I think this is something with the Avaya APs as this is the master AP the issue is happening on. Looking visually at the switchport I can see it is green, then goes off, then amber as it is coming back on, then green, then off again.

I then took the AP offline and assigned the IP statically to my laptop but then I do not get any drops when pinging my laptop
if that's the case its could be AP alright , is there a way to default/factory reset it or will that effect the other aps in service too as its the master

Resetting it was my next step, the slave APs are offline anyway and the master is offline and there was no standby master. These avaya APs were setup some time ago but I was just trying to see if it is a network issue or something our voice team needs to look at

Hello
It wont be the mac-address it will be the ip address
When I assign it another IP address from the same subnet then I do not get any drops.
Can you ping the old ip address when you change it to a new one?
On the L3 switch
sh arp | in x.x.x.x (old ip address )
