Hi,
I think it is a stupid question but I want to know the expert's guide on the Device Tracking feature. This feature will be automatically enabled if you are using some of the support features as DHCP Snooping in the IOS 16.3.x.
As I want to disable this feature on trunk ports due to the size of the table and some issues reported by the clients (especially strictly flow the RFC 5227 as Some of Linux version or Huawei switches). My uplinks ports are configured in the Port-Channel.
Here is my question: I know that we can't make identically configuration on a port-channel member's port. So I have to apply this new profile under the port-channel interface. So, Will, it affects any other feature in the switching?

We have IPDT turn on in order to be able to determine what is the IP address of the client downstream.
NOTE: The commands for IP Device Tracking has been totally changed in 16.12.X.
If the EtherChannel doesn't have IPDT configuration, then it is not enabled on the port(s).

Thanks,
If we are enabling IP DHCP Snooping, it will enable automatically on all ports. It is showing database entry on EC also.
If I will disable it, then will it affect any type of communication such as DHCP snooping, DHCP IP obtains, gateway reachability, etc.

Hello
I assume you have IPDT or SISF as its called now enabled then on your switch hardware?
Do you have any specific switch features active you are worried about when disabling IPDT/SISF
Applying an IPDT/SISF policy to a trunk via a L2 PC as far as i am aware whould be the same as applying the same policy to a physcial trunk interface, just like when you manaully prune vlans off a PC its duplicated on the its member interfaces

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. It is enabled because I am using the IP DHCP Snooping feature.
