Hi,
So we are extending to a new floor in our building and I want to have a separate set of vlans for the PCs and phones there so that its easier to point out the location by an IP address. I can't seem to figure out this one little thing, All our Polycom phones need to point to the gateway IP of Comcast's "Edgemarc" device (VoIP switch). As the new phones will be on a different vlan subnet than the edgemarc gateway is there a way I can include both subnets in the same vlan for the phones to be able to register?

I'm not a VoIP person but are you sure the phones can't route to the Edgemarc device ?
If they can't then you will have to extend that vlan to the new building and if you are doing that there is little point I using two IP subnets.
I would be surprised though if all phones had to be in the same IP subnet as the gateway device.

May be you are right. I didn't actually test this.
Will change the IP address on a phone and see if it still registers with the edgemarc.
Thanks Jon. Will post my result soon.
