I work for the government and we purchased a Cisco 866 VAE router for a project. Our base network runs OSPF routing protocol and we need to know if there is a way to upgrade the router that we purchased to support this protocol.
Thanks for any assistance,

Hi,
I have searched through both the data sheet and the 800 series config guides and
it looks like there is NO support for OSPF for this router family.

May I ask why there is no support for OSPF in this series? OSPF is pretty prevalent in every other Cisco router that we use.
Thanks,
James

James,
This is sohu routers hence might be the reason they have not included the support of OSPF on this platform.
this router would run the RIP without any problem.
Please find the features supports on this device:-

I understand that it will run RIP without any problems. My base network runs OSPF, so now I have to find a way to configure this router to interact with my base network without changing the base network. I am unable to change the base network because of other projects running on the network. Thanks for all the help.

James,
I understand your situation but as said there is no way of OSPF to be used in this router.
probably you can go with other router in the other series.
880 would be running the ospf.:

I have thought about that possibility but the timeline for this project starting is too short for me to submit a purchase request for a different router. Thanks for the help.

Hi James,
Cant you just keep the costs down by running a static route out to the 866s and a default route from the 866s
