Hello there, I shall use an IE3100 switch in an IT-type power grid. Maybe someone can tell me if the IE3100 switch series is isolated from ground otherwise I would have to prepare the power supply in such a way that if there is any internal ground connection it has no affect on the other components. The power supply will be 2x24VDC coming from an isolated power grid. Thanks in advance!

Hello, thanks for the reply. Regarding PoE switches I would interpret this sentence "On switches that support PoE, do not connect any terminal of the DC power source to earth ground." as indication that the DC power supply is internally isolated from ground. My problem is I have a non-PoE-type and have to be sure that there the same applies for the DC power supply, otherwise I have to provide a grounded voltage from somewhere. Does Cisco maybe provide circuit or block diagrams of its switches?

For Information for other people. My colleague could luckily get a non-POE IE3100 switch in his hands and measured the DC to ground connection. It seems as if there the DC power supply is isolated from ground like for the PoE-types, so no need the get mandatory a grounded power supply for this switch.

Hello,
I would expect the PSU to be isolated - but Cisco doesn't publish any doc where this can be verified AFAIK. I would contact your account manager regarding this.
