ISP to Switch

I have a quick question that I need assistance with.

So here is what I'm trying to do.
I have my modem in which is going to a switch, the port that is going to the modem and the computer are both configured as an access for VLAN 300. Just looking to take it off of VLAN 1. Essentially, think of this switch as a DMZ switch.

Then I'm going to take one of the other ports and trunk it to a ESXi host in which is running a VM for a Palo Alto in which then hooks into another switch which is plugged into the ESXi.

Question is, how do I get my modem to be on VLAN 300. I've seen it before where on a Meraki the modem is hooked into an access port of another VLAN and then plugs directly into lets say another port on a firewall that is access for that same VLAN.

I've already configured both of the needed ports for VLAN 300 but I'm not getting DHCP or anything. Thanks again!

I figured out the problem why it wasn't working, it was a problem with how the cable had it's fitting and was shorting out.

If you do have some ideas on the best way to go about the whole VM Firewall thing, feel free to advise 🙂
