Jumbo Frame support

Hi

I have tried to enable Jumbo frame support on some switches , but cannot seem to get it working . I understand on edge switches I need to enable and on core just need to configure ports ? Can advise if I am doing it right ? , is there an easier way as I might have the wrong network path !

Thanks - all advice appreciated

On the edge I have C3560G ... I have put "system mtu jumbo 9000" and reloaded switch .

Output of

sh system mtu

System MTU size is 1500 bytes
System Jumbo MTU size is 9000 bytes
System Alternate MTU size is 1500 bytes
Routing MTU size is 1500 bytes

So I anticipate that's all I need to do on this device .

On the core Catalyst 65xx I have not set a system MTU but have configured port / port-channel and vlan on the paths is this right way or is there an easier way ?

interface Port-channel11
 description MC-CAB-B2-SW2
 switchport
 ....
 mtu 9216

interface Vlan202
 description VM-Kernel
 mtu 9216

interface GigabitEthernet4/9
 description MC-Cab-B2-SW2
 switchport

 mtu 9216
 channel-group 11 mode active

Hi,

You can check the following for Jumbo Frame support configuration on 65XX

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12-2SX/configuration/guide/book/intrface.html#wp1041111

Also, please note:

The following switching modules support a maximum ingress frame size of 8092 bytes:

· WS-X6516-GE-TX when operating at 100 Mbps
· WS-X6148-RJ-45, WS-X6148-RJ-45V and WS-X6148-RJ21, WS-X6148-RJ21V
· WS-X6248-RJ-45 and WS-X6248-TEL
· WS-X6248A-RJ-45 and WS-X6248A-TEL
· WS-X6348-RJ-45, WS-X6348-RJ45V and WS-X6348-RJ-21, WX-X6348-RJ21V

When jumbo frame support is configured, these modules drop ingress frames larger than 8092 bytes.

Manish
