My senior network engineer wants to connect 12+ switches and routers through there respective console cables to a center point in the Network room and then access them through a PC or Laptop.
Has anyone attempted this and what equipment did you use?

I'd recommend using a cisco 2509-2512:

Hi,
If it's just remote console you need then something like a 2801 router with a HWIC-16A module should do the trick. Add a WIC-1AM and you add the ability to connect and check out the routers even if the network is down.

I briefly look at the webpage, and pasted it on to the senior network engineer. We do not at this time require remote access to the routers and switches. Everything is in 5 racks next to each other in the same Network room.
Thank you for the help so far.
