LACP between ESXi host and 2 * SX550X switches; LACP between 2 * SX550X and pair of N5K switches.

Hello,

as the subject implies, i would like to ask the following:

1. is it possible to interconnect a pair of SX550X-24F switches via SFP+ interfaces to create a stack, where ESXi hosts will be connected to both switches in LACP topology? BTW all ESXi hosts have VLAN trunk ports.

2. is it possible to interconnect the above mentioned pair of SX550X-24F switches via SFP+ interfaces to create a stack which will also be upwards connected to a pair of (VPC configured and already interconnected) N5K switches, again in LACP topology? Of course, the uplink ports towards the N5Ks will also be VLAN trunk ports.

3. How many ports are needed to complete the interconnection between the above SX550F switches? Is the terminology MLAG relevant or better describing, as far as my questions are concerned?

I have already tried to find the answers in the TAC documentation, but it seems I haven;t been able to do so...

I do not see any issue - until we see all the device configurations to understand what is wrong. ( or hitting with any bug)

Make sure on the SX550 side always mode Auto, another side should mode active (nexus side) - respective configuration on esxi.

Do one config at the time - i mean try working with the nexus side, make sure the port-channel up and working, before you connect ESXi ?

Why not connect Esxi directly nexus - what is the challenge here?

Nexus not vPC  right? if vPC make sure you take advantage of vPC config on the nexus side.

when you get a chance please make a small diagram for you to understand for us also to understand where these ports are connected.

Thanks for communicating with the Cisco community to face this challenge. The first thing would be to be clear about the design of the implementation. This information will give you the exact number of connections that you will use for this solution.

Remember that Nexus 5K devices work with a type of port-channel called VPC which you can use

as a recommendation from cisco do not work with the Swicth profile dellos Nexus

Remember to rate this answer as this contributes to continue supporting in the community

Hello

Designate two ports on each switch for the Stacking LAG and an additional two ports (now from the stack) for the interconnect between the vpc core

Please rate and mark as an accepted solution if you have found any of the information provided useful.
This then could assist others on these forums to find a valuable answer and broadens the community’s global network.

Kind Regards
