laptop connection to router

what do I need to connect my laptop to the router via a rollover cable . I got no serial port on my laptop.

Increasingly vendors are not putting traditional serial ports on laptops. There are USB adapters/connectors which provide the serial port functionality.

Hi:
it sounds like youre trying to set up your PC to download code to the router.
If thats what you are trying to do, you have to use a crossover cable and connect one end of it to the PC and the other end to the router's ethernet interface.
Enable the ethernet interface.
Configure both the PC and the router's ethernet interface with IP addresses on the same ip subnet -- example: 10.10.10.1/24 and 10.10.10.2/24.
Make sure the PC's Windows firewall is disbaled.
Then try running your tests.
