Layer 3 design vs Layer 2

Hi,

I'm planing to deploy WiFi solution with Meraki in my organisation. (Enterprise-8k devices)

I have 3 ssid IOT, Guest and Employee.

I need smooth mobility when moving between the buildings sites without any connection drops.

I'm thinking's about L3 design since it more flexible to scale, mobility and eliminate all L2 Problems.

I see that all designs case studies are L2 and not L3, can you point me what i'm missing?

Is there a new roadmap for l3 solution?

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you want, but it's relatively simple.

In terms of Wifi, just enable L3 Roaming and you'll be fine.

Hi,

The difference between L3 to L2 means:

L2 - AP connected to access switch and vlan is stretched to AGG or core switch and than to FW.

L3 - AP connected to access switch and than Vxlan or L3routing from access to core/FW.

Vxlan make more flexibility of IP pools, less roaming with changing vlans... limit broadcast and L2 problems...

The Wi-Fi network is just an extension of your wired network. If you follow the best practices guide you will be fine.

Most of the issues with L3 roaming are solved with a new product , which has not been released yet.

Are you refering on using L2/L3 switches or using L2 / L3 roaming ( wireless ) ? This is a bit confusing since you are refering to wireless (ssids) but in a MS channel.
