Limiting Broadcasts within a VLAN

Hello,

i have to deal with a new rare situation.

I have a /23 subnet in which all our Servers are located.

A few servers have really high broadcast traffic, which as the admins told me cannot be changed server side.

Usually i'd just create a seperate new vlan for those servers to have smaller broadcast Domains but in this case this is not(really hard) possible since only the IP range of your Server subnet is  unlocked on for all our over 200 field offices.

So i'm looking into diffrent posibilities to reduce the broadcast issue in my subnet.

I havent used VACLs yet, but i'm looking into those that maybe they are a solution.

Just wanted to know if anyone had similar problems in the past and what your solutions were.

Thanks for your opinion.

I haven't done this but you could possibly limit the traffic from the servers doing the broadcasting using storm control. You'd of course have to test it out.

Here's a link:

Hope this helps

Hello,

the servers i want to limit are virtual in a Blade, i dont want to limit the uplink to the blad itself if possible becasue a lot more stuff is running in there.

I'm trying to find something to reduce/limit the BCs from only those specific IPs (of the servers)
