I am simply connecting a port on a ASA5585-X SSP-20 FW to a port on an ASR 1001 router.
Both ports are gig - SFP used on Router but is recognize and compatible.
in same 10.10.10.0 /24 subnet
No shut
My cable is good. Am I missing something here?

Hello,
assuming you are running at least XE 3.15.0S, it is compatible with the ASR 1001. Do you have a light (which color) on the ASA side ?

If the port is not coming up, you may want to switch the fiber strands on one side and test again.
This is if your SFPs and patch cord are verified and good.

I said the hell with the copper SFP and connected via LC SFP and no problems.
So the copper SFP is recognized but just won't ever get physical connection. Maybe the SFP is still not compatible even though I get logs saying when it is inserted instead of getting an err-disabled.

On a side note, check if you have hard coded the speed/duplex settings on the ASA, as hard coding this disables auto MDIX. Which means the ASA won't be able to detect if you are using a straight or cross cable...
