The integrated services routing architecture of the Cisco 2800 Series provides the performance, availability, and reliability needed to scale mission-critical business applications in the most demanding environments.

Features of the routers include:

  • Built-in security
  • Cisco Configuration Professional (CCP) for simplified management
  • A modular platform with a broad range of interface options
  • Up to 2 10/100/1000 Mbps built-in routed ports
  • Up to 64 10/100 Mbps switch ports with optional Power over Ethernet (PoE), for providing DC power to network devices such as IP phones
  • Up to 1500 VPN tunnels
  • Cisco CallManager Express (CME) call-processing support for up to 96 Cisco IP phone users
  • Cisco Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) support for up to 96 Cisco IP phone users, allowing the router to provide call-processing functionality to keep voice service in operation should the connection to Cisco CME be lost
  • Support for wireless LAN standards 802.11a/b/g
  • Support for a Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) port for Gigabit Ethernet (except 2801)
  • Built-in redundant power supply connector (except 2801)

Hi Prasanth,

You are well fine with the both devices Cisco 2800 and ASA5520.
As said above Cisco 2800 is cable to handle wan links up to 60 mbps for example.
And ASA5520 (Datacenter device) is cable of 720 Mbps throughput.

Hi ,

Did you have any Cisco document which mention its speed ?

I already have a look of Cisco 2811 data sheet but in that max throughput put or max bandwidth not mentioned.

Regards,

Prashant

Hi Prasanth,

Please see the below link for Cisco 2800. It can handle morethan the throughput what I mentioned in my previous post.

20 Mbps (duplex) is borderline for a 2811.  I've attached a Cisco document that lists performance for various routers.  In this document, you'll see a 2811 CEF performance is listed as 61.44 Mbps.  You need to divide by 2 to allow for duplex, and also need to allow for "other stuff" using the CPU.  Both bring the capacity down.  On the other hand, typical sized packets allow a higher rate.  That noted, I've seen a production 2811 max out at about 20 Mbps duplex.
