Log error meaning of MON-2_SYSTEM_MSG

Hello everybody,

My question is very short. I have a periodic log message on one N5548 that I don't understand why it happens. I have one monitor sess created but I have shut it because I thought maybe the error could be because of the monitor span. But the log persists.

Log message is:

Oct 30 11:17:14 %DA Nx5k_2 MON-2-SYSTEM_MSG: send/rx failed - syslog[3191]

and it continually repeats.

2015 Oct 30 11:22:19 %DA Nx5k_2 last message repeated 26 times
2015 Oct 30 11:24:22 %DA Nx5k_2 last message repeated 52 times
2015 Oct 30 11:25:22 %DA Nx5k_2 last message repeated 26 times

I have shut my monitor session, disabled the destination interface, and finally I have deleted the monitor span. And..... no results! It does not make the log disappear. So, what is it due to?

I have looked for about logs but I have not found anything that makes me to understand this.

Thank you very much!

Hi Antilope1,

Are you polling this box over snmp ?

Becuase same type of issue i have seen with N7k which was said to be not to worry with mesage and woudl be fixed with later realses.

Hope it Helps

Hi Ganesh,

In my case I think it is due to the fact the switch can't communicate with the SNMP server to send a trap. I have done some troubleshooting and I find this log could be related with this as it appears in debugging this another one:

2015 Nov 2 10:45:02.671833 snmpd: notif_log_notification : Logging new NOTIFICATION =
2015 Nov 2 10:45:02.671844 snmpd: notif_log_notification : Logging new NOTIFICATION limit 25 curr 0
2015 Nov 2 10:45:02.671857 snmpd: notif_log_notification: LogName NOT found

Anyway thank you for your help. About the NX-OS it is the same in other equipment which does not show this log.
