Hello.
We are having a little discussion about the last message sent by a CPE router at the precise moment when it loses power. Is it possible for a router under this condition sent a log message or snmp trap to a log or snmp server?. This is very crucial for us to find out, since many of our sites are in rural places with no human assistance, so “knowing this from the router” will save us many trips and costs of course.
Thank so much for your comments.

Persoanll I do not believe you get this information, when the device halt due to power loss. even though you setup syslog or archive logs, you will not able to get that information what you looking.
Best suggest is buy small UPS with intellegent capabilities which send SNMP traps when the power lost and power backup, how much time site can run with out power.
hope this information help you.

That is FACT, that is CAPEX / OPEX cost business need consider, If the Business like to know more visibility and viable solution.
Or Accept the risk and move on. if i look at longer run, cost of down time vs UPs deployment will be cheaper( take my consideration)
If you accept the risk, route may fall off due to unforce powerdown or crash, if this remove unmanaged Service, some tech guy need to travel to fix this, what is the this cost ? i can give many reasons here for the business to invest small cost, save many issues around with power.
hope this information helps you.

If the device have lost power with out notice, how you expect the device to send SNMP TRAP ?
if you have smart UPS that will send you the notification, based on that you can take decision.
