Hello Everyone.
We have a stack of 4 3850s with IOS ver 03.06.04.E.
Couple of weeks ago one of two 10gig network module stopped responding on sw4. Upon checking we found that the fiber cable was fine. We tried a spare port on the other Network module on sw1 using the same sfp and the connectivity was fine. So, we checked the logs and found that sw2 had restarted for some reason. Power cable was not loose and no one had turned it off either. As a result, the network module on sw4 stopped responding and the sw3 and sw4 is not showing any mac address. All switches are connected via stack cable and power stack cable. I cant see interfaces ten 1/1/1 - 1/1/4 or gi 1/1/1- 4 on sh int status.
Switch# Role Mac Address Priority Version State
------------------------------------------------------------
*1 Active xxxx.xxxx.xxxx 15 V06 Ready
2 Standby xxxx.xxxx.xxxx 10 V06 Ready
3 Member 0000.0000.0000 0 0 Ready
4 Member 0000.0000.0000 0 0 Ready
I wanted to check the ios version of all switches. So I tried Sh flash-1: and so on. Flash-3: and Flash-4 does not exist.
We cant restart the switches or the stack just yet.
Has anybody come across this ?
Regards,
Sheikh

Look you required to reload whole stack to recover all devices. i believe there was some bug on your version of code ( could not find one)
here is some troubleshoot tips :
i suggest below steps :
1. turn off Switch 3 and 4 (power remove)
2. Power on Only Switch 3, connect console and see what is the messages.
3. check once it booted did the switch joined stack group.
4. if yes follow the same proceedure on Switch4.
try to upgrade to latest 3.7.X

Thanks Balaji. I will give this a try when I have an approved downtime. This stack serves the most important part of our building that is open 24/7.
I will let you know the outcome once I have tried it.

Sheikh
