Hi all

Can anyone tell me how I would configure my firewall in my dmz, would it have 2 network cards one on the lan and external that plugs into the dmz, or would it just have one plugged in to the dmz and we route to this via my default gateway ?

Hi

You need to have 3 interfaces to have DMZ configured in your LAN.Atleast you need to have VLANs configured in your PIX to have that.

PIX 501 doesnt support VLAN config but PIX 506E does support 2 vlans.

whats is the normal setup for a mail server ? can anyone show mw how they have done it ? and what ports are permitted etc

Its the smtp port being opened for the mail access in PIX firewall..
