I have got a 4006 switch. Recently we bought a new 48 port gigabit module. I just want to know whether it is possible to add in this new module or not considering the free DRAM, Flash and NVRAM available. Attached is the result of the show version from the switch.
Need some advice on memory needed for new module.
Thanks

Hi,
Could you please let me know the new module model number that you got for the switch.
You are already running 8.x series code which has the correct sepcifications or requirement for the chassis. I beleive this Cat OS supports all the modules for Cat4K so your new module will definately work on this.
Please see the release notes for 8.x series :

Thanks Amit. The module model number is WS-X4448-GB-RJ45.
I know it will work but what I want to know whether the current free memory (DRAM, NVRAM) will cater for the new module and the configuration etc. We will be creating a couple of port channel on this new module.

Hi,
The Catalyst 4K series supervisor engine software release 8.x or 8.xGLX requires a minimum of 64-MB DRAM installed on your supervisor engine. You already have that on your Sup i.e you can run any config or feature supported by 8.x series and you sup will definetly support that.
In simple words you are good to go...
