I have 8 switches, 6 are in one vtp domain, and 2 are in a different VTP domain. I want all 8 switches to be in the same VTP domain. Both VTP domains are the same "WEST", but each is on a different Configuration Revision, and VLAN changes must be made on each separatly. Each VTP domain has been configured exactly the same, they communicate all VLANs, they just do not automatically update VLAN information between each other.
How can I force the two outside the VTP domain to update from the larger VTP domain?

Are the 2 trunked into the other vtp domain and is the trunk working ok ? Is there any vtp passwords assigned ?

Hi Beau,
I assume the first paragraph of your post, you are describing your VTP setup and you are not complaining that VLAN information are not automatically getting updated between each other :-)
Also I assume you are looking for a solution to merge two VTP domain..
From your description i assume you are using VTP mode as Transparent on your larger VTP domain and that is the reason why the VTP information are not getting propagated to other switch.
For merging two domains my suggestion would be to make one of the switch in larger domain as VTP server, and then change the VTP domain name of the other two switch to match with larger domain name.
In order for the whole solution to work you should have trunk links which connected all these switches together?
Hope that helps.

Hello,
Just like to add some caution to this!
Regards the configuration revision number - either vtp mode client/server can over write vtp database.
So if you larger vtp domain is indeed set as transparent mode and you change it to server then the revision will default to 0 and if your smaller vtp domain is set to client or server and has a higher revision number it will over write the larger vtp domain switches.
