Hi All

Migrating a existing stack of 4 Cisco 3750 to Cisco 9300

Configuration should be copy line by line , copying vlan.dat...

Or there is any tool to check and copy the config?

Regards

  1. Clean the flash:  install remove inactive
  2. Copy the file into the switch/stack.
  3. Make sure the boot-variable string is pointing to “packages.conf” file. Initiate Install Mode (Non-Disruptive/Does NOT Reboot request platform software package install switch all file flash:filename.bin on-reboot new auto-copy verbose
  4. Inspect the contents “packages.conf” file.  Is this the intended version or not?  If NO, go to the GOTCHA section.  Command:  more flash:packages.conf | begin for CAT
  5. REBOOT the switch/stack.
  6. [RECOMMENDED][OPTIONAL] Clean the flash:  install remove inactive
  7. DONE.

  1. Copy the start-up config of the 3750 into a USB stick.
  2. Instruct the 9300 to read the config off the USB stick:  copy usb0:startup-config run
  3. Review the config.
  4. Save the config.

Hi all

config copied from Cisco 3750 to tftp server.

Config copied from tftp to cisco 9300..

ok

How about licensing

ionly have mgmt vlans and vlans for clients and printers.

Switch is not connected to the internet..

we nned to route traffic on some vlan to internet?

is that?

Regards

License will depend entirely on the IOS-XE version the switch (or stack) is running on.

The Cisco Smart License (CSL) supports starts from 16.9.1 up to 17.3.1.

Check the Release Notes, if all switches in the stack can run 16.6.X, then download the latest version of this train.

we are running 16.12 and we have smart license and dna to install.

switch does not have access to the internet.

as I read, its needed for the licenses to be authorized /validated

how can it be accomplished ? add a vlan with capability to go the internet?

regards

Upgrade to, a minimum, to 17.3.2.

New Deployment Method for Smart Licensing

Hi

I will upgrade from 16.12 to 17.3.3

copy tftp: flash:

dir flash:*bin

conf t – boot system flash:packages.conf

wr mem

sh boot system

install add file flash:cat9k_iosxe.17.03.03.SPA.bin activate commit

sh version

correct?

  1. Clean the flash:  install remove inactive
  2. Copy the file into the switch/stack.
  3. Make sure the boot-variable string is pointing to “packages.conf” file. Initiate Install Mode (Non-Disruptive/Does NOT Reboot request platform software package install switch all file flash:filename.bin on-reboot new auto-copy verbose
  4. Inspect the contents “packages.conf” file.  Is this the intended version or not?  If NO, go to the GOTCHA section.  Command:  more flash:packages.conf | begin for CAT
  5. REBOOT the switch/stack.
  6. [RECOMMENDED][OPTIONAL] Clean the flash:  install remove inactive
  7. DONE.

Leo

thanks worked fine

i also copied the config and create all the vlans.

But i am not able to ping the switch IP from my network.

In older cisco 3850 stack  i was..

In the 9300 i can ping al other stacks in vlan of mgmt but when i connect to my network I can't.

vlan 100 is the vlan of all Cisco switches mgmt IP's.

from vlan 90 , per example, i should be to ping the cisco 9300 stack

missing ip default gateway ;(

thanks case closed

Leo

Is there anything to do after the installation, regarding . Licenses seems ok , but is there any need to send anything for cisco to validate?

i only see this line in config..

license boot level network-essentials addon dna-essentials

Regards

I am not concerned at this command.

At the end of the license period nothing happens -- There is no "enforcement" action.
