mls qos trust dscp on Cisco 6509

Hi All,

My client Core Switch has mls qos enabled globally, and I've also configured couple of interfaces with "mls qos trust dscp" . When I check the output of those interfaces, it says that the Trust level is No. Why is that so? Would it trust any packets with certain dscp value or re-write them to dscp 0?

See below:

interface GigabitEthernet5/2

description ***1Gig DWDM link to xxxxx***

ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.248

mls qos trust dscp

end

lvjxxxx#sh mls qos ip gi5/2

[In] Default.   [Out] Default.

QoS Summary [IPv4]:      (* - shared aggregates, Mod - switch module)

Int Mod Dir  Class-map DSCP  Agg  Trust Fl   AgForward-By   AgPoliced-By

                         Id         Id

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gi5/2  7  In    Default    0        0*       No    0   167475571232              0

But on the other hand, if I do this, it says there's QoS Trust state for that interface

lvjxxxxx#sh mls qos module 5

QoS is enabled globally

Policy marking depends on port_trust

QoS ip packet dscp rewrite enabled globally

Input mode for GRE Tunnel is Pipe mode

Input mode for MPLS is Pipe mode

QoS Trust state is DSCP on the following interface:

Gi5/2

Vlan or Portchannel(Multi-Earl) policies supported: Yes

Egress policies supported: Yes

Which output is telling the correct behaviour?

Hi,

What is the output of this command?

sh mls qos  int gi5/2

HTH

It's a Cisco 6509. That command  syntax doesn't exist for this switch
