Hello
I'm wondering if you know how can I monitor, when I exceed the limits set by the mls rate-limiters in Catalyst 6500. Should I see something about that in a syslog?
Thanks in advance for any help

Hello Lukas,
I've found two sh commands
sh mls rate-limit
sh mls rate-limit usage
see
I don't know if these events are logged the objective is that of avoiding excessive cpu load and logging can loads the cpu as well.
in the above chapter there is a mention of logging when using a VACL
in the error message guide there is a section about MLS_RATE events but it include only related errors see
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2sx/system/messages/sm2sx05.html#wp1040794
so no logging of activity without using the VACL if I've correctly understood.
Hope to help
Giuseppe

Hi
Thank you. For sure logging could impact the CPU, but at least there should be a counter that can be readed, which shows that the mls limits are set to low.
I'll open a TAC case with such question. If I get any answer I'll let you know.
Regards
Lukas
