I have a 2821 Router that I am trying to do a monitor session on the gig0/0 interfaced which is my outside interface. I want to send the data to my fastethernet 0/2/0 port. When I type in the session command and give it the source interface it keeps coming back as invaild input on the gigabitethernet command. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, SPAN only works on switches and not routers. The CLI is available on this platform so that you can configure SPAN incase there is an etherswitch module configured. Hence it does not likes your onboard port of the router.
I hope this clears.

Hi,
on a router you must use other technique such as RITE or EPC.
