Hello

I want to recovery password for Cisco 2960 POE -24 with more tentative with press button " MODE'

but the switch go to mode normal and i can't enter mode   switch :

Step 1:

Power off the switch first, then press and hold the mode button while you power on the switch again. Hold it for about 15 seconds until the SYS led is solid green, and then release it.

The switch should then give you this prompt:

This step 1 don't work !!!!??

so how i can resolved this problem that i can recovery password for switch 2960 POE

i wait a reply from expert switching .

@Dhikra Marghli if any of the process mentioned above doesn't work for you, then boot the switch without flash memory. Once you will see the "switch:" prompt, reinsert the flash and proceed with the password recovery procedure. Hope that will resolve your issue.

The switch will lead to the "switch:" prompt without flash memory. once you see this. Insert the flash memory back and proceed with the password recovery procedure and then enter the "boot" command.

NO , because i have 4 switch 2960 poe switch layer so i can recovery password for three switch but only one switch  don't work !! that why i send a request to this forum cisco !!

so  I have a problem for a single switch compared to the others which are working correctly and same plateform 2960 switch layer 2

@Dhikra Marghli with some IOS version I have experienced the same behaviour in past with the Mode button. I would suggest you try to boot the switch by removing the flash memory. This will break the booting process as the switch will not able to find the IOS without flash. Once you will see the "switch:" prompt, reinsert the flash and proceed with the password recovery procedure. Hope that will resolve your issue.

Flip the switch to it's side so the Mode button is being facing the table -- Let gravity "hold down" the Mode button.  

Power up the switch and wait for 30 seconds.  Make sure the weight of the switch is pressing down on the Mode button.

Holding the Mode button down for >20 seconds will cause the switch to go into "Express Setup".
