Multicast and VRF Lite

Hi Guys,

I have an issue whereby I cant seem to get multicast to stream outside a vrf.

I have the following scenerio;

6500 switch, sup-720 loopback set as the rp.

I have created a vrf (lite), which is sat behind a fwsm. I have enabled multicast routing in the vrf, also on the firewall and set the rp address as the loopback in the default routing instance.

I can route to everything ping boxes, rp's etc..

Now, I can multicast to devices sat directly off the firewall from the defualt routing instance on the 6500, I can also multicast within the vrf.  However I am unable to multicast out or in to the vrf from anywhere else??

I am using pim sparse mode, any ideas???  If i view the mroute on each device it all looks good.

Cheers

Scott

Hi Scott,

what you are trying to do should be "Multicast VPN Extranet" which allows source/receiver to be on different VRFs. Please have a look at this document for config guidelines and restrictions.

hope this helps,
