Multicast. Network freeze during host reboot

Hi,

First, a brief summary of my setup.There are 4 cameras connected to a first switch (A). Switch A is connected to a second switch (B) with an optical cable. There are several hosts connected to Switch B, to display the cameras multicast video feeds. The two switches are model Cisco 3750x.

Everything works fine until a host reboot: the cameras feeds are lost during a couple of seconds.

It seems to me that it happens when a host want to join the multicast group and the switch tables are updated.

Any thoughts on what cause the problem and/or what I can test or configure?

Are the cameras and the hosts in the same vlan ?

Is it just one multicast group they are joining ?

If it is just one vlan have you -

1) enabled PIM on the L3 SVI for the vlan

or

2) enabled the IGMP snooping querier for that vlan

what does a host port configuration look like ?

Here are the answers to your questions.

 --> YES

Is it just one multicast group they are joining ?

 --> 4 multicast groups (1 for each camera)

If it is just one vlan have you -

1) enabled PIM on the L3 SVI for the vlan

 --> The snooping method set is pim-dvmrp.

or

2) enabled the IGMP snooping querier for that vlan

 --> IGMP snooping querier is enable on the VLAN. Switch B is the querier.

And you have portfast enabled on all host ports ?

The majority of ports had portfast disabled.

I have enabled them and it seems to work. :)

No problem.

I'm sure you know this but only enable it on end devices and not on the ports used to connect the switches to each other.
