Multicast on Switches

Hi Everyone,

Just curious, 
Do i need to enable/configure anything on my switches (L2 and L3 switches) so that multicast works?
Network is a collapsed core type. e.g., we have one Core-switches and all our access switches are connected to core.

HI,

It really depends on you. R u using complete Layer 2 for Multicast then nothing much other then few things to keep in mind. But if you are involing layer2 + layer 3 then there is much needed your attention as you need to keep aware of your RP etc....

Layer 2:-

Only you need to keep aware of igmp snooping querier.

Layer 3:-

PIM/ RP etc..

well here's the application, one of clients said they are going to deploy UPnP DLNA Server w/c serves as a multimedia server, a lot of monitors poll from it and display, well, the video it presents.

WIll we need to enable something on this?

If you existing multicaset working fine and new application is hosted and if client is requesting that steam they will get that without any issue.
