Native VLAN to a Hp Enclosure

Hi anyone out there,

I want to change the default native VLAN 1 on a Cisco switch trunk port to VLAN 888 and the port is connected to Hp enclosure (Virtual System). For Cisco switch to switch, it needs ports from two switches to change to VLAN 888 as native VLAN then can work.

However, is it need to do on the port at the Hp enclosure side whereby the VLAN setting cannot be disable.

Hope anyone can give the answer.

Depend On what HP Enclosure it is, it may work or may not since this more of compatibility with 3rd party vendors, which do not have control over.

Most of the enclosure have Layer 2 bladed and software sit inside is controls ( so we do not have that information if you have some information provide us to understand better)

Technically and mutually both sides required to accept the same, if HP side you can not able to change, what can be changed?

my suggestion is - if this is not in production, try from cisco side and give a shot, if it is production environment think again (why do we require to change native VLAN now) - its requirement and must, in maintenance window change and test it and role back if not working.

Should work, although it's best avoided if you can get the HP endpoint to support 802.1q. Set the native vlan to 888 on both sides after you've confirmed that HP is sending untagged. Be very, very careful that nothing else may be in that segment that you don't want on that VLAN, or secure with a VACL.

Hi Nadav and Balaji,

Thanks to your reply.

My side two enclosures with VLAN mode disable or VLAN mode unchecked. Attach the Enclosure VLAN setting snapshot for reference.

In this case, if I change the native vlan at the Cisco switch from default VLAN 1 to VLAN 888, any impact on the trunk link between Cisco port and the Enclosure port? Or there will no impact and trunk link is still up and running?

Welcome any advice. Thanks!
