Native Vlan

Hi every one.....Please give me answer of the following questions.  

1.What is Native VLAN?

 2.What is the purpose of Native Vlan?

3. Is this necessary to create a native vlan in the network environment? If yes, then why? 

Please give me answer of these questions in easy words, i have searched in internet, but i confused. Please brief me about the above questions.

check out a post I did on the topic only recently. My opinion, avoid it if you can, it confuses most people, most stuff nowadays can tag vlans, so the need to native vlans is less and less. But I guess this is not the first time that discussion is sparked up.
