Either gonna shoot this router or myself - not yet sure which...
Cisco 1811W
Configuration Pro Express is NOT installed
I do not have a service contract with Cisco, so cannot download CPE
sdmconfig-1811-1812.cfg file exists in Flash - have moved it to nvram
I have spent most of the weekend trying everything I can find to get this working but have not been able to. The biggest issue that I need to get over is establishing a connection with Configuration Pro. I presume something is missing in the networking setup, but have not yet been able to get everything right.
Anybody out there who knows these things want to do some phone consulting?
Below is the last configuration I used:
--- System Configuration Dialog ---
Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]: yes
At any point you may enter a question mark '?' for help.
Use ctrl-c to abort configuration dialog at any prompt.
Default settings are in square brackets '[]'.
Basic management setup configures only enough connectivity
for management of the system, extended setup will ask you
to configure each interface on the system
Would you like to enter basic management setup? [yes/no]: y
Configuring global parameters:
Enter host name [Router]: Cisco1811W_1
The enable secret is a password used to protect access to
privileged EXEC and configuration modes. This password, after
entered, becomes encrypted in the configuration.
Enter enable secret: scottk
The enable password is used when you do not specify an
enable secret password, with some older software versions, and
some boot images.
Enter enable password: scott
The virtual terminal password is used to protect
access to the router over a network interface.
Enter virtual terminal password: rrt93m

Hi,
Could you explain more precisely what you are trying to achieve?

Ultimately need to configure for a home business - 1 router, wifi, static IP, firewall - nothing special.
The issue at the moment is that I have not been able to establish a connection with Configuration Pro.
Cisco 1811W
Configuration Pro Express is NOT installed
I do not have a service contract with Cisco, so cannot download CPE
sdmconfig-1811-1812.cfg file exists in Flash - have moved it to nvram
04-22-2013 12:03 PM
if you send me your details for wam, wifi and etc i will do a config so you can copy and paste!!!!
04-22-2013 01:24 PM
I appreciate that very much. If I can't get CPE connected and figured out I'll take you up on it. I really would like to figure out how to get the GUI working tho, as it seems that it would be the most helpful 2 years down the road when I have forgotten everything else. Then again, now that I think about it, maybe a command line setup doc would be pretty self explanitory and easier in the long run... What do you think?
I have to run & don't have time to pull together all the details right now & probably can't until late tonight. Could you send me a sample config file in the meantime?
Either way, I still want to figure out how to get CPE connected so that I can at least try it...
Thx
Scott

Sorry, when I said "CPE", I meant to refer to Cisco Config Pro "CCP". This router does NOT have Config Pro Express installed.

Liam
Every turn there's something new to stumble over... I'm convinced - command line is the way to go (at least I'm convinced that CP is NOT the way to go...). I'd love to take you up on your offer. Will send info via email.
Thanks
