need to replace C9300-NM-8M with C9300-NM-8X are they compatible.

we are doing a tech refresh and to may understanding cisco is having issue with C9300-NM-8M and has recommend  C9300-NM-8X has a replacement.  I'm just need to make sure this information is correct.

C9300X-NM-8M is a NM exclusively for the 9300X.  
I do not think anyone has experience with swapping a NM for the 9300X for the "regular" 9300.  

The NM for the regular 9300 has two s_crews.  NM for the 9300X only has one and I am not even sure if the other one is "aligned"

Should work fine. The only difference is that C9300-NM-8M is a Muligigabit network module versus C9300-NM-8X is a straight 1/10 Gig module, but as far as compatibility, you should be fine. For more info, see table-3 in this link:
