when we buy any new switch then basic IOS will be there on switch or not?

and how to upgrade IOS on new switch

Hi there,

A switch will be shipped with a whatever version of IOS was the recommended release at time of manufacturer. This can be quite old in some cases.

You will need a service contract either with Cisco or a reseller to provide you access to software.cisco.com for the platforms you have registered and paid for support.

Every new device comes with a basic IOS. In some cases you can order the new switch with preinstalled licenses, according to the requirement you need. About the IOS update, if you have a valid service contract, you can go to the Cisco website, you can search for your device and download the latest IOS.
