dears

kindly why the nexus 2k has 8 uplink ports ????

My opinion and plz correct me ..... thats because the nexus 7k or 5k can be devided into 4 virtual devices  ( using vdc)

and making 8 uplink ports in the 2k will allow us to use the extender for all the 4 vdc's with 2 uplinks ( for redundancy ) from each vdc

Hi,

What model 2k do you have?  Usually, 2Ks have 4 ports for uplinks and not 8.

thats because the nexus 7k or 5k can be devided into 4 virtual devices  ( using vdc)

the 5k series switches do not support vdc.  So, that is not really the reason.

The number of uplinks are to provide more bandwidth on the uplink towards the core and not because of VDC.

the model is  2232pp

You are correct.  2232PP has 8 interfaces for uplinks, but that is just to provide more bandwidth and lower the

oversubscription ratio.

Hi Hamzeh

To add a bit to Reza's words.

Nexus 2000 doesn't support local switching. That means that traffic between the ports on the same FEX will be sent to N5K or N7K - which is the master switch.

So to avoid an oversubscription Nexus 2000 offer big number of fabric links.

HTH,

Alex
