Nexus 5k Throwing Duplex Mismatch error even though Duplex/speed is correct

Hello Guys

We Are facing an issue with Duplex Match. error in nexus 5k

Our Nexus 5k Switch continously throwing Duplex mismtach error on Logs.

The interface is connected to Cisco Wireless lan controller(5508) using port-channel. Other interface in Port channel is not facing an Issue.

This interface is hardcoded with Speed 1000. Same config on WLC also Speed 1000. No ipunt errors observed in the interfaces

But in Switch cdp this interface is showing as Half duplex and flooding the 5k with logs

Please find the Interface configs & CDP outputs,

The lan controller shows this , which shows "auto" for mode.  Change the switch end to auto instead of a hardcoded speed of 1000 this could be causing your mismatch .  Switch end does not need ot be hardcoded.

From WLC Controller end

(Cisco Controller) >show port summary

STP   Admin   Physical   Physical   Link   Link
Pr  Type   Stat   Mode     Mode      Status   Status  Trap     POE    SFPType
-- ------- ---- ------- ---------- ---------- ------ ------- ------- ----------

2  Normal  Forw Enable  Auto       1000 Full  Up     Enable  N/A     1000BaseTX

Hi Grant,

Thanks for your sugggestions. But however  we Have 6 Controllers, all are having the same setup as this one.

Only difference i seen for this switch is for the th port 1/11 it is showling 2 CDP info,  one for management interface of WLC and other for Logical interface of WLC, which seems not correct.

Ths CDP info connecting to Logical interface is showing half duplex and cdp info connecting to Physical interface of wlc is showing full duplex.

Guys,

Any inputs here????

I'm having the same issue here - same alert, same CDP info. did you ever get a resolution?

Hi

Yes. we managed to resolve it.

Disabling the CDP v2 advertisement in the interface. Stops the logs.

A duplex mismatch is a situation where the switch  operates at full duplex and the connected device operates at half duplex  or vice versa. The results of a duplex mismatch are extremely slow  performance, intermittent connectivity, and loss of connection. Other  possible causes of data link errors at full duplex are bad cables,  faulty switch ports, or client software or hardware issues.
Resolution : Since for 5500s WLC , data rate is fixed 1k full duplex, please check the switch side data rate , make sure it is set to 1000 Mbps Full Duplex.
