Nexus 7000 deployment - best practices

Dear all,

I have few questions related to hrsp, vpc and mtu. I will really appreciate if you answer them.

Since both nexus switches forward the traffic regardless who is HSRP active. In such case do we need to laverage BFD for HSRP for faster convergence or no need?

Another HSRP related question, Do we still need preemption with HSRP when both switches are actively handling the traffic?

Spanning same root priority for both N7K switches

The max mtu on nexus is 9216 whereas on access switches like 3850 is 9198. Do we have to match on both side or we can set to max whatever supported on switches

Thanks

YH

Hello YH,

vPC with HSRP best deployment guidelines are provided by cisco.Have a look on the below links for more detailed information.

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/sw/design/vpc_design/vpc_best_practices_design_guide.pdf

And my view for Jumbo packet configuration is to have symmetry in all network junction like if it MTU 9216 then enable or configure 9216 in all routing interface just to avoid any packet drop.

Hope it Helps..
