Where are designing a solution with a pair of Nexus 5596’s and eight Nexus 2248 fabric extenders to provide Internet connectivity for Web servers. Typically, we put all the Wed servers on the Nexus 2248’s and attach the load balancers/firewalls on the Nexus 5596’s. The customer would like us to connect the firewalls and load balancers to the Nexus 2248’s instead. They are doing this to save money by not having to purchase Nexus 5596 SFP’s for the load balancers/firewalls, since the 2248 already come with fix copper 1G ports.
Do you see any technical reasons why this would be a problem?
Thanks

I don't see any issues overall. Just keep in mind that the 2248 has 4 10gig interfaces back to the 5596, so there will be 40gig connection here.
Also keep in mind we don't do local switching directly on the FEX modules, so all traffic that needs to be switch from port to port on the FEX must traverse up the FEX uplink, then back down...so keep that in mind while planning for capacity.
